The name Comfort Luxe came from my client saying that she wanted people to be really impressed by their bedroom (the primary is right off the living room), but that they wanted to be able to binge a whole show from their bed and actually be comfortable.
We focused on that as the design ethos, adding in personal touches through artwork and fabric selections. The dark teal paint created the perfect luxurious and moody backdrop, letting me focus on ways to bring in that comfy feeling. I loved helping the homeowners direct their design aesthetic into something that would stand the test of time, while still feeling modern and fun for the young couple in their first home.
The home is a classic 90s suburban build. The bedroom had a vaulted tray ceiling, an old chandelier the homeowners were ready to ditch, and carpets that would have to be embraced until the floors were refinished in the main living room. There wasn't much space to add anything to the room, and the owners were ready to upgrade their bed after they finished painting. I helped them visualize different paint options, find a new light fixture, pick out a lifelong bed, and add in texture and color with new art and bedding.
We settled on a low profile upholstered bed to play with the height of the ceilings. A dark chocolate fabric was chosen to allow the bed to live with them through style changes as needed. The client offered her sewing skills, so I tasked her with creating her own pillows.
We found some gorgeous brass drop pulls to swap out and integrate the dresser into the new design. A few pieces of art and a new lamp that mimics the shape of the chandelier keeps the dresser looking polished.
After falling in love with some out-of-budget wrought iron benches, we decided to reupholster something second-hand with the perfect vintage fabric. A woven rug is hung to create a statement textile artwork, flanked by simple candle sconces for drama.
