This client came to me in the near final stages of their first-home renovation. The couple had a great vision establishing the foundation of the home and updating the big picture items, but were stalling out when it came to deciding on furnishing. I set up a custom package so they could pick and choose what they were most worried about: spatial planning (getting the right size couch, especially), finalizing paint colors, and a furniture shopping list.
The design inspiration carried a heavy dose of Andalusian and Moroccan influence, paired with that classic transitional look of mixing vintage furniture with more classic lines. We established a color palette, identified ways to bring in pieces of their culture, and figured out how best to use their sunroom.
The dining room was a great opportunity to bring in this dark mustard yellow color that was on the inspiration board as a rug. We decided against the rug and instead went for these slipcovered chairs so the living room rug could be a pop of color.
We fell in love with this couch for the shape and color. Two poufs in our color palette keep sight lines open while offering extra seating. A cabinet on the back wall adds height and additional storage.
One of the first pieces that was a 'need to have' was this carved wooden media console. With a funky three-head lamp and the dream striped chair tucked into the corner, this TV wall now adds charm instead of feeling like an afterthought.
After going back and forth with what to do with this sunroom, we decided on TV-free lounge/reading room. We went for a dark olive on the walls to add drama when looking in from the main living space. This sectional is modular, but also fits perfectly to give a built-in look.
With plenty of inspiration for tiling the fireplace when budget allows, for now the brick was drenched in the wall color. We flanked either side with simple floating shelves, painted in the same olive green. Swivel leather chairs lets conversation flow between spaces.
These are screenshots of the near-finalized furniture placement renderings. We changed some things around in the sunroom after this check-in, but the client opted out of finalized 3D renderings with added styling and color/shape adjustments.
